Today is Garden Bloom Day, and I'm supposed to show you everything in bloom in my garden. But I have a much better idea -- I'll show you what's in bloom in Ciscoe Morris's garden!
I was impressed with this place before in April and May, but it really shines in June.
Looks like Cisco hacked back his giant rice paper plant. Maybe the fire department made him do it.
After we stopped by Ciscoe's place, we went to my friends' house, where a mother robin scolded me for checking out her young ones.
Cute!
Really amazing.
ReplyDeleteHave you met him yet?
Did those arums smell really bad? (The red flowers just before the baby chicks.)
P.S. I find that this post *is* at the top of your blog.
ReplyDeleteWeird! Last night the blog was not showing this post at the top, no matter how many times I shift-F5ed or cleared cookies.
ReplyDeleteI haven't met Cisco yet, though I feel it's inevitable, given how often I go to his house and how often he speaks at nurseries. I think he's making like six public appearances in the next eight days.
I promise I'll let you know as soon as it happens.
Chuck, I know you want me to shoot Bloedel, which I definitely will this summer. Are there any other places in the Northwest you -- or anyone else reading this -- wants to see photos of?
I'm going to Bainbridge Island for their big garden tour in a few weeks, so I'll definitely get photos of the five gardens on display, if I make it to all five.
I notice that Little and Lewis have five more open garden days this summer. That place is magical.
I'd like to get back to Elandan, since none of their maples had leaves during my last visit.
And I'll be in Portland at least a couple more times this summer.
I didn't notice how the Arun flowers smelled. I often forget that flowers even have fragrance.
ReplyDeleteJVA, Just found your blog and enjoying it. It's nice to see another blogger in the area.
ReplyDeleteAll the best,
Bob of bobsgarden.com
Thanks, Bob! Your photos are wonderful! And it sounds like you actually know about plants.
ReplyDeleteWhat city are you in?
I just linked your blog from this one.
See you around!
Man, these are gorgeous. I just hunted them back out to give to a Cisco Morris fan here at the temple. They have stood the test of memory.
