Peaches Reunion at the Blue Moon

Last night I went to the Blue Moon, one of the oldest and most storied taverns in Seattle.

The TV was tuned to some sporting event; I didn't hear about any election results until I got home pretty late.

Dylan Thomas, Allen Ginsberg, and Theodore Roethke drank here.

Which is partly why this 70-plus-year-old institution has been saved from the wrecking ball.

Former employees of Peaches record store, which used to be across the street from the Moon (it's a Petco now), had a reunion there last night.

They drank and looked at old photos.

Here they are, here at the Moon, back in the day.

Here they are with the Bee Gees.

And the Ramones. (All of them.)

I ended up marrying the bass player for this band. I think even he would agree that this photo totally belongs in the rock & roll Hall of Douchebags.

This one too.

I drank too much.

It was a fun night.

  1. Does the Hall of Douchebags ever end? (I hope not.) Thank you for sharing!

  2. By the time you get to the end of the Hall Of Douchebags, Chuck, another five new bands have been added to the beginning. In the United States, a new crappy indie band is created every 40 seconds.
