This blog used to be mostly about gardening. Now it's mostly about the neighborhood, but I'll continue to throw in plant posts. I can't help myself.
On the way to Flower World we stopped at the Woodinville Taco Time.
A box of Mexi-fries basking in the sunshine. Sublime.
Flower World is big and nice. Everyone loves Flower World. so I don't need to say much about it. They have a lot of stuff, it's clean and tidy, and they grow 90% of what they sell. And they pipe out way too much harp music.
Heather.
Last year I did a lot of nursery browsing; now I can spot a baby Cryptomeria from 50 yards away.
Cryptomeria japonica 'cristata." I have five of these in my backyard. I'm not sure they're going to make it.
Oh, maybe this post is on theme after all. This cedar is called "Beacon Hill."
A sign warns of escaping turtles. My husband's on the lookout.
There's an iris farm next door.

Around the Yard on the Last Day of the Year
The viburnum's doing well.
My beloved smoke tree.
The sedum are filling in, bless their little hearts.
The moss is slower, but it's coming along too.
The ceanothus is blooming just a little bit.
The moles are digging the soft soil.
The grass is full of moss. I'm OK with that.
I'm not sure this cryptomeria is going to make it.
The others are looking a bit better.
I've heard they don't transplant well, but this strawberry tree seems to be doing just fine so far.

Year in Pictures in Review: Part 2 (August Through December)
AUGUST
My little neighborhood held its first block party.
I suspected Little & Lewis my have my very favorite private garden in the area.
I took a lot of evening walks.
And drank a lot of French white wine, sometimes in my handmade Rubaiyat shoes.
Our plum tree produced an abundance of fruit.
And I made many ginger plum crisps.
I started planting the rock wall with sedums and heathers.
I visited Ciscoe's yard toward the end of its glory.
And found some awesome porn in the attic.
SEPTEMBER
We went to the Bridge Motel party.
We found a sign in our attic.
And I watched this Joan Jett video a lot.
OCTOBER
I got a new camera!
I take more, better photos inside the Brew House.
And of course I did the Halloween tour of Georgetown.
NOVEMBER
I take a lot fewer photos when the days get short.
The Great Stuff antique shop in Georgetown.
Kubota Gardens.
DECEMBER
It snowed.
I ate a crepe at Hangar Cafe. I'm thinking about it still.
We went to the Georgetown Holiday Art Walk.
I got these.
And I think I might be just about done with photos for the year.
