Art House and Garden

Last night some artist friends invited me over for a birthday dinner. Their house and garden are also a studio and showcase for their work and their collections. It's my favorite house in Seattle.

Good pictures of a cool house! The bathroom is especially intriguing. I like the faucet coming out of the wall, and the wall. That sink, I dunno. I'm not quite there yet with that style of sink.

I feel like you've shown us this sculpture before in some context. The ones with the large glass horizontals..?

That bathroom has the same type of tile that we used in our bathroom, the brown with the bronze wash. Love the little narrow window.

I might have shown you one of those sculptures before, though I can't think of which one.

The thing that I love about this house is that the owners designed it to please only themselves and not some future buyers.

I'm not quite a fan of those sinks, too. When we remodeled our bathroom last summer, my husband pushed for those, but I had to veto. I do love the faucets coming from the walls, tho' (but suprisingly we didn't get those either).

I love the photos of the large rock surrounded by the small pebbles. I dunno -- something about that intrigues me.

After seeing these photos, I think I would easily pay money to see the inside of this house (and many others in this town). Seriously. A house I've always admired was recently put on the market and had an open house (hosted by the owners). When they asked us if we were in the market, I confessed that we weren't but that I had always wanted to see the inside of this house. They were very gracious as we ooh'd and aah'd our way through the tour.

These are great photos :)

Thanks, you guys!

There are few things I enjoy as much as touring someone's house for the first time. Especially if they're weirdos (my favorite type of people), of course.

Apparently my friends turned down Sunset when they were approached about having their house featured in the magazine. I'm so grateful they let me take photos for this blog, and that you enjoyed looking at them.

Maybe I'll start a "house" tag.
