A Deer at Dirty Little Secret

I go to Portland to get my hair cut by the owner of Dirty Little Secret on MLK Boulevard. This is the first time I've checked out the back of the recently expanded salon, which now has spa services.

Nice!

Lucynda worked really hard on this place for a long time. It's kind of thrilling to see what a great job she's done.

I continue to walk around and annoy people with my camera.

Then I settle down to get my hair washed, but someone calls out, "There's a deer outside! Get your camera."

Weird.

I walk outside, dripping soap, and snap some photos of this poor lost doe.

Animal Control's on the way.

And the deer is fine.

You guys go to Portland a lot! Do you go to McMenimans? I've been to a few of them. I like the Kennedy School. You're probably over it tho', huh? Are they "bad"? Have you been to the Portland farmer's market? I think I must have raved about it here before.

Portland is my favorite place. I lived there on and off for 20 years, and my parents, hairdresser, and some old friends still live there, so we go there every other month or so. Whenever my hair starts getting long.

McMenamin's is a good thing, but there are zillions of even better things. I've been to the Portland Saturday Market under the Burnside Bridge -- is that what you're talking about? I'm sure there are also tons of great farmer's markets in the area these days.

Next time you're headed to Portland, let me know and I will give you a list of places you'll love.
